Getting Around: Arrival & Local Transportation
Navigating to the venue and exploring the host city during the 4th Global Summit on Diamond Open Access is straightforward, safe, and supported by modern transit networks.
Please review the arrival guides and transportation recommendations below for a seamless travel experience.
Arriving at the International Airport
Upon clearing Indonesian immigration, collecting your luggage, and scanning your mandatory electronic Customs Declaration (e-CD) QR code, you will exit into the main arrival concourse.
1. Official Airport Taxis
- Bluebird Group (Bluebird / Silver Bird): Indonesia’s most reputable taxi operator with reliable meters and professional service. Counters and official queue lines are located immediately outside the arrival terminal.
- Silver Bird offers premium executive sedans, while regular Blue Bird offers standard sedans and MPVs.
- Important Safety Note: Only use taxis queued at designated taxi ranks or booked through official terminal booths. Politely decline unsolicited offers from freelance transport drivers in the terminal lobby.
2. Ride-Hailing Apps (Grab & Gojek)
- Designated Airport Pick-up Lounges: Both Grab and Gojek have dedicated, air-conditioned passenger lounges with ground staff at the airport.
- You can book your ride through the app, and staff will direct you to your assigned driver at the specialized ride-hailing pick-up bays.
3. Airport Express Train (If applicable in Host City, e.g., Jakarta / Yogyakarta)
- Direct rail link connecting the international airport terminal to central railway transit stations.
- Fast, punctual, and fully avoids highway congestion. Tickets can be purchased via automated vending kiosks at the airport rail station or via mobile apps.
Local City Transit & Commuting
- Ride-Hailing (E-Hailing): Download Grab or Gojek on your smartphone. They provide transparent, metered fares for both cars and motorbikes, with credit card payment options integrated directly.
- Public Mass Transit:
- Modern, clean, and air-conditioned mass transit lines (such as MRT, LRT, or BRT / Trans buses) operate extensive routes across major central districts.
- Payment for mass transit requires a contactless electronic money card (e-Money, Flazz, TapCash, or Brizzi), readily purchasable at airport convenience stores (Indomaret, Alfamart) or ticket offices.
Mobile Connectivity & Foreign Phone Registration (IMEI)
Staying connected is essential for local navigation and event communication:
- Major Indonesian mobile carriers (Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, XL Axiata) provide prepaid tourist packages with high data allowances.
- Purchasing a tourist SIM card directly at official carrier booths in the airport arrival hall is the easiest method. Registration requires your physical passport.
- Alternatively, consider purchasing an Indonesian Travel eSIM online before departure for instant data connectivity upon landing.
- Indonesia enforces an IMEI registration policy for mobile phones using local Indonesian SIM cards.
- Short-Term Tourist SIMs (up to 90 days): Purchasing a dedicated “Tourist SIM” at authorized airport carrier counters automatically registers your device temporarily without requiring customs duty procedures.
- Always keep a modest amount of cash (Indonesian Rupiah / IDR) in small denominations (Rp 10,000 to Rp 50,000) for highway toll road fees, local convenience stores, or quick taxi tips.
- Most taxi operators and transit services accept credit card payments, debit cards, or local QRIS mobile scan.
