Call for Proposals & Posters

The Scientific Committee of the 4th Global Summit on Diamond Open Access invites scholarly communications practitioners, journal editors, institutional leaders, open infrastructure developers, librarians, and researchers worldwide to submit proposals for presentations and scientific posters.

We welcome empirical studies, practical case studies, policy evaluations, and technological demonstration projects that advance non-commercial, community-driven scholarly publishing.

Thematic Tracks

Submissions should align with one of the following summit thematic tracks:

Track 1: Digital Public Infrastructures & Technical Sovereignty

Open-source publishing ecosystems (OJS, Janeway, Lpub, Kotahi, etc.).
Interoperability, metadata standards, Crossref/DOAJ integration, and persistent identifiers (PIDs).
Community-owned digital preservation and indexing networks.

Track 2: Sustainability, Governance & Policy Frameworks

Institutional and national funding mechanisms bypassing author-facing fees (no-APC models).
Consortial funding, cooperative publishing models, and national open access mandates.
Aligning national assessment policies with the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science.

Track 3: Multilingualism, Bibliodiversity & Equity

Publishing in national and indigenous languages while maintaining global discoverability.
Mitigating regional biases in international indexing systems.
Strategies against predatory commercial takeovers in the Global South.

Track 4: Responsible Research Assessment Reform

Decoupling academic evaluation from proprietary journal-level metrics (e.g., Impact Factor).
Implementation of DORA, CoARA, and institutional recognition of Diamond OA publishing.

Submission Categories & Formats

Oral Presentations (Thematic Panels):

15-minute presentation followed by panel Q&A.
Structured abstract requirement: 300–500 words (including Background, Methodology/Action, Results, and Global Relevance).

Scientific Posters / Infrastructure Showcases:

Visual exhibition displayed in the main commons throughout the summit, with dedicated poster defense sessions.
Abstract requirement: 250–350 words. Accepted posters must adhere to standard A0 portrait dimensions (841 x 1189 mm).

Guidelines for Submission

Language: Submissions must be written in English. (Presentations during the summit may be delivered in designated interpreted languages where supported).
Originality: Submissions should describe ongoing work, community implementations, or original policy analysis not previously published in proprietary commercial formats.
Review Process: All submissions undergo peer review by the International Scientific Committee based on relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution to equitable scholarly communication.
